April 19(2)

Here we are again, finally arrived in Edinburgh about 6:30 pm, after touring Stirling castle, late in the afternoon. What with the traffic tie-up I mentioned earlier, plus the 4 sites we visited, we did pretty well. We were sitting in a pub when I wrote my earlier blog today, and it was really bright and sunny, so the computer was hard to see, so I not only made it short, but didn't take the time to add pictures.

Blackpool

Lancaster

Carlisle

Everywhere we went this morning, was extremely windy. On top of Dumbardon castle, which was built on a hill it nearly blew us over. You can't really see from the pictures, but it was so strong, it was hard to take pictures. The view was breathtaking! It was the same from the top of Stirling castle, which is also built on a hill.

So tomorrow we will scour Edinburgh for any interesting sights, and then we're off towards the south, back to England. It's hard to believe we have been on the road already for 16 days. Hope you're all enjoying our travels with us.

Hi all. We're in a small village in Scotland called Balloch. Somewhere northwest of Glasgow. We had a nice trip from Liverpool, after stopping at Blackpool, Lancaster castle, and Carlisle castle, we arrived in Glasgow at a very nice B&B hotel (the Newton Inn). We highly recommend it for a nice comfortable well-looked after place to stay. We walked around the corner to a busy campus hangout type street, lots of pubs, nightclubs, and restaurants, and had dinner at a "campus pub". That's what it was called. It seemed to cater almost exclusively to students, except for us old fogies of course.

This morning we had a very nice breakfast in the hotel, and toured a castle just outside of Glasgow, and David Livingston's house. We then headed to Dumbarton to see the castle there, and got stuck in a 5 mile traffic jam on the motorway. With being unfamiliar with the roads, we didn't want to get off the motorway and try a different route. Anyway I need to finish lunch so we can carry on to Stirling Castle, and then Edinborough, for the night. more to come later
