April 15

We had an interesting day today. When we woke up at the B&B, the sky was clear blue and the sun was shining. We were hoping for a great day. we drove around for a bit, but it seems not too many attractions are open on Mondays and Tuesdays, and some don't open until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. After finding 2 places we wanted to see closed and a third not open until later in the afternoon, we decided to pass them by and try for something different.

We met a couple of guys at one of the places we had gone to, who told us about the site of the largest Roman town site nearby. It was actually on our list of Heritage attractions, but we hadn't thought to see it for some reason. It turned out to be very informative and interesting. Some of the features we saw at Bath a few days ago, were also present here.

About this time, we noticed that the clouds were rolling in and the wind was picking up. We decided to head for Wales and see if we could outrun or bypass the rain. We eventually did get back to sunshine, but we had to pass through a long period of rain and hail along the way. We stopped at a small pub just into Wales for lunch, and then had a very enjoyable drive through the countryside to get to Caernarfon, and eventually to Bangor, where our hotel was situated. We had mountains to drive through, around and over, once again. It was great. There were even snow covered peaks!. But the roads were super narrow, twisty and fun to drive on. We are now in Bangor, Wales. It feels like we're driving around Quebec...the Welsh/English signs are weird.

Tomorrow, we will visit the Castle at Caernarfon, then we're off to Warrington, outside of Liverpool, for a couple of nights. We need time to see the place where the Beatles started their careers.
