We had a great day today! We drove into Caernarfon to do our laundry, but the directions we got from the clerk at the hotel, were a little ambiguous and we were unable to find the laundromat. so we went to see the castle which opened at 9:00am. It was a beautiful day and the castle was almost empty at this early hour. We learned the history of the Castle and how Edward I built a series of castles all around Wales each a days march from the other, as protection against invaders.
On our way back to England, we saw one other castle that looked in really great condition at Convy, but we didn't stop as the parking, or lack of it, was pretty bad. We continued on to a place called Rhyl, where we checked out another castle in the series. This one was in ruins, but it was easy to see what the place potentially looked like in its glory. We had a nice lunch at a small cafe around the corner, and then headed on to Warrington, outside Liverpool.
Tomorrow we plan to visit Liverpool and check out the places where the Beatles got their start. Oh yeah, we finally found a laundromat and did our wash and then had an early dinner at a nice restaurant we were told about by a lady we met in the laundromat.
