Flight 1

We had a pleasant bonus upon our arrival at the airport for out trip to London. We were advised that our tickets were upgraded to business class! This meant that we gained a half dozen seats closer to the front of the plane, and got better service, including complimentary drinks. We got to sit in the nicer seats that sort of face each other in pairs, instead of being crammed into the normal front-facing seats. We had a really good flight, and even got to sleep some. We arrived at Heathrow right on time at 1:00 pm on Thursday afternoon.

We made it through customs in record time and then tried to pretend were actually in terminal 4 not 5! We had a long wait before our luggage finally joined us. Jan got to ride in a wheelchair and missed the long walk! The BA rep even went so far as to take us to the tube station and helped us on the train. Then after a45 min subway ride we arrived at Earl's Court. Our hotel is just around the corner from the station - about 250 Meters. We have a small bedroom with a tiny bathroom, and a 12" TV, but that's OK as we don't plan on spending a lot of time here. Oh, and I found that in spite of all my careful packing, I still misplaced an adatper for the power (here in England). I had to go out and purchase another one right away so I can use my laptop!

We've already stepped out and gone for a walk through Earl's Court to Kensington gardens. I got my GPS to finally recognize the satellites it needed to locate itself, so now we appear to be set. We walked around a bit then took a train to Covent Garden, where we walked to the farmer's market and had a bite to eat. Then we took a different train back to our hotel. It is now just after 9pm, and we're both pretty tired. The next few days are going to be busy.
