April 5

Today started out much like the previous few days, except there was a vicious cold wind blowing, and the prediction is for SNOW!!! Needless to stay, I went out in my usual attire of shorts and T-shirt, but I did put on a sweater just in case. We jumped onto the first subway train in the station, and realized belatedly that it was going to the wrong place, well, not wrong exactly, just not the direction we wanted to go. The next stop was the end of the line, and we had to return to get the correct train. Live and Learn!

Our first stop was Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guard. Although it was very cold and windy, and we were unable to hear what was going on, or know it, for that matter, the production was interesting. First a group of guards marched out of their barracks. They were joined by another group who arrived after a march down the Mall, accompanied by a band. Then a third group double in size again accompanied by a band from a different direction showed up. After a bunch of movements which we couldn't understand marching around the parade square, the guard was finally changed. There was a huge crowd on hand watching, with lots of police presence.

After this we returned to Victoria station and had lunch at the Shakespeare pub, and warmed up following our chilly morning. We then took a double decker bus to Marleybone station, then a tube to Baker street, where we saw the Mme. Toussaud exhibit. It was a very crowded display, with people fighting over each other trying to see all the exhibits.

We are getting ready to take the train to Canterbury tomorrow morning to continue with our trip. We pick up our car on Monday morning, and I'll finally get to drive a car from the wrong seat, on the wrong side of the road. I'm truly looking forward to that. That's it for now.
